Comedy Scribe: This fun site aims to team up feature screenwriters who desire to write comedy and are willing work together using the internet. Try it, you might like it!

Script Blaster: For a fee, this new service offers writers the opportunity to email query letters on spec scripts directly to agents and producers. You write the query letter on your script, and they BLAST it to their database of 650 qualified agents and producers. They will target the submissions by your script's genre if you prefer.

Shades of Day: This dynamic site is dedicated to independent film and video making. "Shades of Day" develops and produces quality films  based on original stories and the masterpieces of the world literature dealing with a variety of contemporary issues often neglected by the mainstream cinema (both by the studios and the "independents"). WriteLink.co.uk: A terrific website offering directories of writing markets, competitions, agents and publishers. Super reference listings and jobs for writers in the UK market.

Empire Screenwriting Resource: This page entitled How to Write a Screenplay covers writing fundamentals, readability and marketing. The creator derived his experience from managing a screenplay contest, so it might be especially helpful to those writers preparing their scripts for competitions.

Thruthecracks.com: A terrific site that offers an amazingly thorough database of movie reviews from across the USA including both print and media venues. The info you need is complete and easy to find. Offers DVDs, profiles and other features for movie lovers.

 

Scripts of Recent Movies:

Script Crawler: This awesome site run by Brent Buddy is the largest searchable database of free movie, TV and radio scripts online. It lists the scripts by title with format notation and the host site. And it's FREE!

Movie Script Database: Shooting scripts of recent releases that can be downloaded (mostly free) for educational purposes. 

Script Formatting:

Online Script Registries:

ScriptNet: This well-established registry has almost 1200 entries. A growing group of industry professionals - agents, producers and directors - regularly search the ScriptNet database.

Scriptiverse: A cool screenwriters site with reviews, columns and articles, and a FREE script registry where you can post loglines of your spec screenplays.

Scriptfly.com: This site focuses on developing and marketing screenwriters. They offer tools and services to help aspiring writers propel themselves into the spec market including script analysis and a free script registry service.

Unmovies.com: The boffo website of screenwriter Daniel Knauf who created it to promote his work but has expanded it into a script registry service. There is a fee for coverage (feedback) because he wants to filter the scripts for quality but if the reader recommends the script then the posting is FREE.

Writerscriptnetwork.com: Get REAL exposure and a greater chance to sell your scripts. We opened our doors Feb 14, 2000. Every month we average almost 4 writers who gain representation and nearly 2 scripts per month are sold or optioned. We are 
getting results like no other site.

Writerswebsite.com: You can list your script for free in their Writers Marketplace if you take advantage of one of their many script services.

Literary Library: A script/manuscript database associated with Storybay.com, a spec script brokerage company offering script consultation and promotion.

Neverheardofthem.co.uk: A new talent directory for writers and performers. Currently, writers can post up to 5 pages of their work for FREE. Bonus: listing pages are ad-free. 

The Rights Marketplace - Authorlink.com: This database currently showcases 800 manuscripts and screenplays. All material is reviewed by the Authorlink staff. There is no fee to have original work reviewed by their staff; but they do charge to post to the Rights Marketplace. They also send direct mailings to promote the work of their writers.

The Screenplayers: The Screenplayers are a serious group of experienced screenwriters who formed this alliance to market their work. Your script must be nominated and accepted. Industry professionals are carefully screened before given access to the scripts. in addition to the database, their website offers promotional opportunities for their writers.

Online Script Coaches:

Hollywoodworkingwriter.com: If you're looking for a script consultant who is a working Hollywood writer instead of a screenwriting teacher, then check out this site run by Paul Cooper. He has many Emmy nominations, a Humanitas Award from the Writer's Guild and dozens of TV movies and cable projects to his credit. To give you an idea how he works, his site offers a free download of his  mini-course on screenwriting.

RX4scripts.com: This excellent writer's site was created by award-winning screenwriter, Tracy Keenan Wynn (The Longest Yard, The Drowning Pool, The Deep, The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman, Tribes). He offers script coaching to selected screenwriters.

Write Movies The consultants for this site are well-known industry insiders: manager Alex Ross, screenwriter David Newman, and film exec/producer Peter Saphier. These industry pros provide expert script consultation and screenwriting workshops. Writers choose the staff member they want to read their script - there is a sliding pay scale.

Screenwritersforum.com: A full range of script services: script analysis, coverage, query letter coaching, research and idea development. Extras: good resource lists and tons of terrific articles well-organized for writers who are serious about building a career in the movies. 

 Screenwriters Room: Experienced film executives, Kathleen Hannon and Ann Zalid, help screenwriters break into the business. They offer script notes, phone conferences, face-to-face meetings and industry referrals if they recommend your script. The Screenwriters Room provides one of the most comprehensive recommended reading lists for screenwriters that I’ve seen.

The Writer's Guild Mentors Program: This is a completely free service provided by experienced, credited Writer's Guild members who have signed up to be mentors. Aspiring writers visit the Guild’s website and choose from the mentors who have volunteered. The mentors are listed by writing genre and work experience. The aspiring writer corresponds privately with the chosen mentor to discuss writing and script marketing issues.

The Screenwriting Center: Dave Trottier has decades of experience as a screenwriter and screenplay coach. Many writers he's coached have gone on to win major script contests and establish successful screenwriting careers. Dave is the author of “The Screenwriters Bible” - one of the best-selling guides to writing and selling a script.

Screenplay Solutions: Experienced teacher and screenwriter Robert Stitzel offers coaching services. He is expensive, but check out his impressive recommendations.

Independent Film Resources

DependentFilms:  Great site for independent filmmakers offering current film news, equipment sources, and TONS of FREE downloads for screenwriting and filmmaking. They provide "...works innovative in terms of writing, acting, and directing created by artists trained through the theatre... (They) are committed to the creation of dangerous and original works." 

BigScreenBiz.com: Great site for working Indies and Wannabees too. Film equipment auctions, discussion forums and detailed classifieds for writers and filmmakers. Their MOVIE RELEASE CHART offers the best updates on the Web.

Film 411: Resources for aspiring filmmakers and film lovers with a great list of film companies and movies studios for writers who want to send queries about their scripts.

Indie Film Page: Indie news, independent film showcase using streaming video, and a comprehensive, well-organized set of Indie links.

Indie Club: A great site for networking with others who have a passion for making movies. Whether your interests lie in acting, directing, producing, writing, or any other skill associated with making great films or video. Useful film locations database and message board for members - membership is FREE.

Bigscreenscene.com: A useful site for aspiring filmmakers created by Anthony Deller, an experienced screenwriter and filmmaker. He offer helpful articles on directing, editing, screenwriting, and producing. 

Online Spec Script Brokers:

Script Shark Spec Market: If your script receives a 'Consider' or a 'Recommend' in their coverage, it is placed into iFilmPro's Spec Market database where it is exposed to 20,000 industry professionals. They will also attempt to set you up with an agent. 

The Pipeline into Motion Pictures: If your script receives a 'Consider' or 'Recommend' in the coverage from Pipeline, their staff will help you polish your script and circulate it to their industry contacts. They currently have over 300 producers who provide them with details of their production agenda. 

Studio Script Sales:  This company provides an arena for writers to reach producers, executives, agents and managers. Tom Skouras and his staff have 50 combined years of experience in the film industry as producers and agents. They charge service fees only - not a percentage of a future script sale. 

The Insider's System: This company describes itself as: “the doorway between undiscovered writers and top industry decision makers”. Well-known script coach, Natalie Lemberg Rothenberg, runs this company. Her site offers the usual script broker services as well as a 'Writers Showcase" published quarterly for selected scripts. A helpful bulletin board unites writers with writing partners and enables independent producers to connect with independent rewriters on pending projects.

Story Bay: This global literary marketplace was co-founded by Brad Warrington and staffed by credited movie producers and experienced ex-agents. They offer extensive story notes and phone conferences. If your script receives a 'Consider' or a 'Recommend' in their coverage, they provide personal referrals to agents and directors. They send monthly emails to tip off industry executives to the best submissions in their databases.

Literary Library:  This brokerage entity for original material is an offshoot of Story Bay. It accepts fiction and nonfiction manuscripts, articles and short stories for publishing and as springboards for movie scripts. They offer the same editing and coaching services as Story Bay. If the material is given a high recommendation, it is placed in a subscription database and circulated to their publishing and movie industry contacts.

The Writers AgencyThis is the online version of The Writers Agency in Quebec. They charge 5% if they sell or option your script. There are no fees for writers to post their material in their database; but they don’t post every script submitted, they filter the projects for quality.
